Flow Festival, during which Suvilahti is the most beautiful place on Earth. There was the magic, sun, Florence + The Machine (that woman is just amazing), old friends and the best burger I’ve ever eaten (THE FAMOUS NEW YORK NINJA BEEF BURGER!).
The following morning after + early flight wasn’t so nice, though. But I survived, thanks to Johan & Nyström again.
Selvisin.
Come with me to Bilbao!
So it happened that I was invited to Bilbao, on such short notice to call it a crazy idea. Nevertheless, it proved to be not
just crazy but an amazing one, as you can see:
For drinks and dinner: Peso Neto C/ San Francisco, 1 / 48003 Bilbao
For those warm evenings, drinks, food, dancing in the street etc: Casco Viejo aka the Old Quarter
For pintxos and friends: Irrintzi c/Santa María, 8 / 48005 – Bilbao
For art: Guggenheim Avenida Abandoibarra, 2 / 48009 Bilbao
For the night: Melia Bilbao Lehendakari Leizaola 29 / Bilbao 48001
Last but not least, Metro to the seaside, for more pintxos, tinto de verano and a house with a view:
Gracias a todos, Bilbao & J. You treated me well !
Tällainen oli Bilbao 24h. Melkein täydellinen.
The night before you should have eaten the best burger’s in town at Kauppayhtiö or enjoyed tapas and wine (they also have the best mojitos in town) at Café Bar 21, after which you have danced the night away at Sfäär.
If the weather is good, walk or run down to the river. If it’s winter, continue on the river. And when you have had enough of fresh air, go for some culture and coffee. For art, concerts and business, I’d go to Korundi. And for the same, but with more Arctic, Arktikum.
Did you know there’s also an Arctic Ice Cream Factory in Rovaniemi? You can have a taste of that and the best chocolate in town at ChocoDeli. Unfortunately, not open on Sunday’s.
Ps. Do not forget to visit Santa!
*When the month changed numbers, I moved back to Rovaniemi, in where I have spend the 4 of the 5 years of my studies. It’s been nice to notice the development of this tiny town of North, especially when it comes to places in where to eat and drink. So here are some of my current favorites and Sunday tips.
Ixelles. A commune inside a commune. The commune in which Audrey Hepburn was born. A lovely community in which I once lived. La Parisienne of Brussels.
And there, Place du Châtelain. On Wednesdays, after work. Ambience, international and exciting. Traditional food, delicatessen, flowers and drinks. Rosé with ice. Or beer. Beautiful women, handsome men, conversations, arguments, kisses and laughter. French, English, Arabic, Finnish, Swedish and many more languages. Trés chic!
Flaneur Rue du Bailli. Eat Sushi at Makisu. Drink a beer at Supra Bailly; pretend you’re an artist or a writer. Make a date, talk to strangers, eat something delicious at the market (I always had Pad Thai) and buy your weekly vegetables.
And smile; there’s wine!

PS: Hope this nonsense has been forgotten. We don’t need another Finland in this Europe.
