Nordic Rose Quartz & Serenity

This Pantone color of the year... It’s the shades of winter. Color of extreme cold. Color of January. Pakkanen. Just see my previous post. Or the following pictures.frozen lake

All taken in January, in Scandinavia/Finland, with freezing cold hands. But still, that Nordic soothing sense of order and peace, when everything is either covered by snow, frost and/or frozen. Quiet, tranquil, connected. That’s wellness.

Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace

Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.

This January I won’t travel to Tromsø like I’ve did the last three years , since this January I’ll try NBE and Matka Travel Fair for the first time (thanks for the invite!).

But I highly recommend Tromsø for the ones who can, especially now, during Tromsø International Film Festival (Tiff) and these^ colors. It really does bring feelings of respite and relaxation, despite the cold and turbulent times. Tromsø is always a good idea, trust me.

Goodbye Lapland > Helsinki Stopover

Only the northern people seem to understand the concept Helsinki Stopover by Finnair. Flying there in the evening, lay over, and continue flying the next day. Or in my case, to take the train, since the flights KUO-RVN-KUO (200€) were cheaper than HEL-RVN-HEL (400€) + the train ticket HEL-Kuopio ‘central’ was cheaper (25€) than the taxi (40€) from KUO to Kuopio city center, aka current home.

Sounds and is absurd, traveling in Finland I mean. But this time it’s ok, the stopover I mean, since I have the opportunity to see some of my friends after a long time and to catch one of the last changes to see the Henri Cartier-Bresson exhibition in Ateneum. A good deal I’d say. Helsinki is so tiny, that one day is most of the times enough for seeing what there’s to see right then. And I’ve heard it’s kinda extra cold these days. The seaside -20’C really is worse than inland -20’C. It creeps into your bones and stays there and that’s not nice, even in girl from the north country -standards.

It’s also kinda funny how in Helsinki they need these artificial lights by Lux Helsinki to light up the polar night.  You know, in Lapland we have this kaamos thing.. In other words, one night stopover in Helsinki is enough for me.  Somehow it hasn’t proved to be worth more, but maybe some day.

Siperia Helsinki calling.

Bring It On 2016

It’s the last day of 2015 which also happens to be the last day with this employer. Time to destroy the files and head and go for the new year and new adventures. And maybe review a thing or two about 2015.

I didn’t get any presents this Christmas. I got some promises  – later, when we see again, and I bought a thing or two to myself. Which was more than fine. Sounds bad, but it really wasn’t. I knew this Christmas would not be the Christmas. I knew it would be melancholic. And it was ok (although some people in the other end of my phone might have another opinion – thanks dear ones for the support!).

2015 really hasn’t been my year and it would have been wrong to ruin the pattern in this point. After all, I was in Finland and in Finland if somewhere it’s ok to be almost melodramatically melancholic sometimes.

Nevertheless, from 2016 I wait many presents. Most importantly, I wait to be present. I wait others to be present. And I’ll do all I can to make that come true. Enough of this bullshit (sorry!) the last two years have mostly been; no presents nor people present. Too many champagne problems and too few classes of free, dry, cold champagne. Btw, have you ever thought how both the snow and the champagne are best when they’re free, dry and cold? I just grinned to that.

All in all, the bottom line here could say that goodbye 2015, you will not be missed much (except the Switzerland, Bilbao, Lapland and Tromsø parts). And welcome 2016 with new adventures. Yes, adventures, since I haven’t planned a thing yet. Except a trip to Lapland. See you tomorrow, home!

2015 oli aika hirveä vuosi muutamine valopilkkuineen. Onneksi sentään ne valot olivat kirkkaita ja sateenkaaren väreissä heijastavia, sillä muuten olisi ollut suoraan sanottuna aivan liian raskas vuosi selvittävänä. Lyhyesti; heippa 2015, ei tule ikävä. Ja hei 2016 ja uudet seikkailut. Mukavuusalue on hukattu jo kauan sitten, joten ainakin taikuutta on tiedossa. Ja huomenna matka Lappiin, jossa pitäisi olla ilmaista, kuivaa ja kylmää lunta.
